About the Case Converter

A case converter saves you retyping text that was written with Caps Lock on, or reformatting headings to a consistent style. Writers, students and developers use it for headings, product names, spreadsheet data and code comments.

Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word, including short words like "and" or "of", so you may want to adjust it to match a specific style guide. Sentence case lowercases everything and then capitalizes the first letter after each full stop, question mark or exclamation mark, so names and acronyms need to be re-capitalized by hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalizes the first letter of every word. Sentence case only capitalizes the first letter of each sentence.

Does title case follow AP or Chicago style?

No. It capitalizes every word, so small words such as "a", "of" and "the" will also be capitalized. Adjust them manually if your style guide requires it.

Will proper nouns keep their capital letters?

Lowercase and sentence case convert the whole text to lowercase first, so names and acronyms lose their capitals and need to be fixed by hand.
