QR Code Generator
Turn a link or any text into a QR code that phones can scan. The code is generated in your browser and contains your content directly, with no redirect link in between, and you can download it as a PNG or SVG.
0 bytes. A QR code holds up to about 2,900 bytes at level L and fewer at higher levels. Shorter content gives a simpler code that scans more easily.
The code is drawn black on white with a blank border (quiet zone) so phone cameras can read it, whatever this page’s theme. Always test a printed code with a couple of phones before sharing it. The code itself does not expire, but it only works while the link or content inside it is still valid.
How to Use the QR Code Generator
- Paste a URL or type the text you want to encode, or press Use example URL to try it out.
- Choose an error correction level. Medium suits most uses; choose High if the code might get scratched or partly covered.
- Press Generate QR code.
- Download a PNG for documents and social posts, or an SVG for printing at any size.
- Scan the code with one or two phones to check it works before you print or share it.

About the QR Code Generator
QR codes connect printed material to something online: restaurant menus, posters, business cards, packaging, event tickets and product manuals. Scanning with a phone camera opens the link or shows the text without any typing.
This generator creates static QR codes. Your content is encoded straight into the pattern, so the code does not depend on Usevanta or any redirect service and will not stop working because a subscription ends. The flip side is that a static code cannot be edited after printing: if the link inside it changes or the website goes offline, you need a new code.
Error correction lets a code survive damage. Level L can recover roughly 7% of the code, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%. Higher levels make the pattern denser, so keep the content short: a short URL scans more reliably than a long one.
The code is drawn black on white with a quiet zone, the blank border scanners need. When printing, keep it at least 2 cm (about 0.8 inches) wide and avoid low-contrast colors or busy backgrounds. Scanning still depends on the phone, lighting and print quality, so always test before you share. The code is generated in your browser with the open-source qrcode-generator library, and your text is not sent to a server.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these QR codes expire?
The code itself does not expire, because the content is stored in the pattern. It only stops being useful if the link inside it stops working.
Can I change where a QR code points after printing?
No. That needs a “dynamic” QR code that points to a redirect service you control. Static codes like these are more private and do not depend on a third party, but their content is fixed.
Should I download a PNG or an SVG?
PNG works almost everywhere, including documents, slides and social media; choose a larger size for print. SVG is a vector format that stays sharp at any size, which makes it the better choice for printers and design software.
Why won’t my QR code scan?
Common causes are printing it too small, low contrast, a missing white border, glare on glossy paper or too much content. Try a shorter URL, a larger size or a higher error correction level, and test with more than one phone.
Can I make a QR code for Wi-Fi, email or a phone number?
Yes, by typing the right format: WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyNetwork;P:MyPassword;; for Wi-Fi, mailto:name@example.com for email or tel:+15551234567 for a phone number. Most phone cameras recognize these formats, but support varies by device.
