Reverse text in three ways: flip every character so it reads backwards, reverse the order of words on each line, or reverse the order of lines. Results update as you type.

Reverse characters

Flips the text so the last character comes first: “Hello world” becomes “dlrow olleH”. Emoji and accented letters stay intact.

About the Text Reverser

Reversing text is useful for word games, puzzles and palindrome checks, for flipping a list so the newest entry comes first, and for testing how software handles unusual input. Reversing word order can also help when rearranging names or phrases.

Character mode reverses the whole text, so line order flips too, unless you choose to reverse each line separately. It works on user-perceived characters, so emoji, flags and accented letters are kept whole instead of being split into broken symbols. Word mode reverses the words within each line and keeps the spaces between them in place. Line mode reverses the order of lines without changing their content.

Right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew are reversed by character like any other text, which may not be meaningful for those languages. Your text is processed in your browser and is not sent to a Usevanta server.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I write text backwards?

Paste your text and choose Reverse characters. “Hello world” becomes “dlrow olleH”. Copy the result with one click.

What is the difference between reversing characters and words?

Reversing characters flips the letters themselves, so words read backwards. Reversing words keeps each word readable and changes only their order: “one two three” becomes “three two one”.

Will emoji break when reversed?

No. The tool keeps emoji, skin-tone modifiers, flags and accented letters together as single characters where your browser supports it.

Can I reverse a list so the last item is first?

Yes. Put each item on its own line and choose Reverse line order.

Is extra spacing kept?

In word mode, the spaces between words stay where they were, and leading or trailing spaces on a line are kept. Line mode keeps each line exactly as written.
